Coercion Without Alienation

Despite all the rage we have about how Republicans have trashed the American dream, we have to remember to focus that anger on the actions of the politicians themselves and not those who follow them. In order to lay a strong foundation for change, we need Donny Dittohead to identify with us, see us as human, and drive a wedge between his conservative views and the GOP's corporate bias. It will be a cumulative effect, presenting Donny with more and more issues that hit home. Yes, we'll have to cut through lots of self-righteous bravado, but if we succeed all that indignation can be redirected to a truly deserving target: the GOP.

These are the topics where our wedges of truth will cut the quickest. These are vulnerable cornerstones of the Republican myth:

1) Fiscal responsibility - choking revenue yet cutting taxes
2) Freedom - from the womb to workers' rights
3) Personal integrity - hypocrisy abounds
4) Common man American values - elitism couldn't be more obvious
5) Christian mandate - didn't Jesus look after the poor?
6) Job creators - no jobs bills yet
7) Free market capitalism - running wild without regulation
8) Privatizing everything - injecting profit into government operations

On the other side of the coin, we have to debunk all the propaganda about what Democrats are trying to achieve. If we draw out the corporate agenda hidden within their rants, we can make their protests more absurd and self-serving.

Here are some of the many issues that Democrats have championed in the face of GOP faux indignation:

1) Global warming
2) Obama health care plan
3) Union rights
4) Election integrity
5) Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid
6) Marriage equality

These are just of few of the hundreds of topics that miniprotesting can address, and that's just on the national level. Each state legislature under GOP control right now is faced with sweeping right-wing overreaching, trying to get what they can while they can.

For every reason, there can be miniprotesting main sign inscription sets. Use some of ours or make your own. It's good therapy for trying times.
